Hi, I’m Shelly.
I’m the hands, heart, and occasionally frazzled brain behind Shellyann Creations.
I started crocheting as part of physical therapy after double bilateral carpal tunnel surgery, which sounds very calm and medical until you picture me swearing quietly at tangled yarn while trying to follow instructions. Somewhere between recovery and “just one more row,” crochet stopped being therapy and became part of who I am. I never put the hook down… I just kept buying more yarn.
I’m a mom to two small humans who believe yarn is a shared household resource, a wife to an unbelievably patient man who tolerates my ever-growing yarn hoard, and the proud sidekick of DeeDee, my French bulldog and official logo inspiration. My life is loud, colorful, creative, and occasionally interrupted by someone yelling random numbers while I’m counting stitches. If you’ve ever lost your place mid-row because chaos entered the room, welcome. You’re among friends.
By education, I hold a BA in Graphic Design and an MA in Psychology, which means I care deeply about how things look and how they feel. I’m currently working toward my certified crochet teaching credential because I believe creativity should be accessible, encouraging, and just structured enough to keep us from unraveling completely. My designs are bold, playful, and made for real life, not perfection.
Shellyann Creations is about color, joy, humor, and handmade things that feel good to use and even better to make. I design for people who laugh when they frog a row, who swear they’ll stop buying yarn (they won’t), and who understand that creativity doesn’t require silence or spotless floors.
If you’re here to shop, learn, or just feel a little less alone in your crafting chaos, I’m glad you found me. Pull up a chair, mind the yarn pile, and let’s make something wonderful.
Why Shellyann Creations?
Because handmade should feel real, unlike my cute AI profile photo. (If you’re having an acne day, utilize the AI)
Shellyann Creations is built on color, creativity, and the beautifully messy reality of everyday life. My designs are thoughtful but never fussy, bold but always usable, and created with real hands, real schedules, and real distractions in mind.
With a background in graphic design and psychology, I care about how things look and how they make you feel. Crochet was my way back to creativity after surgery, and it grew into a business rooted in patience, joy, and resilience.
Here you’ll find patterns and handmade pieces designed to be approachable, well-written, and fun to make, even when a stitch gets frogged or someone yells a random number while you’re counting.
This isn’t perfect crochet. It’s real crochet. And that’s the point.
